Merry Christmas!!!

So, for one of my Christmas presents, I decided to order a new top and pants. They are currently on their way to my house. (I should have them by Monday or Tuesday). Oh, I hope they fit!!!!

Left: Fabric Block Oversize Tee (Topshop)
Right: Faux Leather Skinny Trousers (Topshop)

Let me tell you how online shopping has become a new favorite hobby of mine. I don't ALWAYS buy, but it sure is fun to add items to the cart!!! I also love it because some of the things that I want (leather trousers) are not always available in my city. Sometimes you just have to look elsewhere!

Geek Chic

When one thinks of penny loafers, the word 'stylish' is not usually associated with it. This outfit takes penny loafers to a new, stylish level. (They have come a long way since the days I wore them in middle school). Keep the outfit feminine with a chiffon blouse that has a bow detail at the neck. The gold rope belt also gives the outfit a bit of sparkle, keeping the outfit from becoming too dowdy. (Remove the belt that comes with the pants...too many bows can be a little too frilly). I love the plum structured tote. It is pretty and functional. (Bring your laptop/netbook and work back and forth from the office). And of course, accessorize with jewelry!

Can't believe it has been 7 months...

Okay, suddenly it has been seven months since my last post....How did that happen? My only guess is that during the past nine months of being pregnant with my second baby, my mind has been completely unfocused. I remember that happening with my first pregnancy...I found out I was expecting and suddenly I could no longer concentrate on anything. Well, the same thing happened this time too! Of course my two year old son now takes up most of my free time but I also teach dance which pretty much takes up my full brain capacity. So I pretty much have no time for anything and my brain is unable to do anything but come up with dance combinations. (No complaints there, I love my job)!

Well, HOPEFULLY, I will be able to update my blog more often. Of course I must be crazy to think that that will happen with an infant and two year old. I do have to say that reaching the end of my pregnancy, I suddenly feel like I am waking up from a very long nap. I feel like suddenly my brain can focus on things and I am making time for my hobbies once again...sewing and fashion.

Now with that said, I was at Target yesterday with my mom shopping (for baby stuff, course), when my mom stopped in the clothing section. This is a very foreign feeling to me. In the past nine months, I have just simply walked by the clothing section. My eyes of course have been pulled in that direction but what was the point? Well, to make a long story short, (I guess this hasn't really been that short), I stumbled upon this denim shirt.
$22.99 at Target

Finally! I have been looking for a shirt just like this for the past two years. Every single time I stumble upon one in a store they either don't have my size or the shirt is the wrong color. Of course I find one when my belly is as large as a watermelon. I had to just throw it over my shoulders and hope for the best that it would fit in a few weeks.

I can't wait to wear this shirt with my dark LOFT skinny jean leggings and boots. Of course, if I am wearing skinny jeans, I may need to wait just a little while before I can squeeze into them...

Coming soon!

I can see "so and so" wearing that!

There are many times that I look at clothing on websites and think to myself, "I can see 'so and so' wearing that!" Since I am slowly growing a watermelon in my tummy, I don't have the luxury of looking for clothes for myself anymore. Might as well find things I think my friends might like!

I can see my friend Courtney in this cute yellow and floral print dress (right). I can see her dressing it up with chunky yellow beads and cute ballet flats.

I really like this blue shirtdress (top, left) and can see my sister Emily in it with some really cute wedge sandals.

When I saw this necklace (bottom), it reminded me of my friend from high school, DeLynn. She has a very cool sense of style and she could definitely pull off a chunky necklace like this one!

Maternity Wear

So I finally started looking for maternity clothes even though it pains me to do so. The selection out there is bleak so I figured I should start looking for decent clothes before I find myself in a bind with nothing to wear.

I ordered this shirtdress last week from Motherhood Maternity and it just came in. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this dress was actually cute on. I think it looks even better in person than it does in the picture. It is even cute enough to wear NOT pregnant! Although, I'm sure I will be sick of all of my maternity clothes by the time October rolls around.

If you are expecting or know someone who is, share this link. They are probably desperately looking for something decent to wear as well!

What to wear? Part 4

It has been a few days since my last post! I recently found out that I am expecting my 2nd baby, and for the past week or so I just haven't felt like doing anything. Back to my 'What to Wear' series already!

I decided to do a little online searching for my next 'outfit.' Since I am pregnant, it is a little annoying to pick out something that I won't be able to wear but it is still fun to look.

I really like the idea of a cross body bag with flat shoes. They just seem to compliment each other. Since the outfit is pretty neutral, I decided to pick out a bracelet and ring with a pop of color. I sure wouldn't mind getting my hands on this outfit. Guess it will have to wait until next spring!!

White Hudson Jeans
Gorjana Chloe Stud Earrings
Hive and Honey Cardigan
Kate Spade Hot to Trot Bracelet
Marc by Marc Jacobs Stripe Dome Ring
Metallic Saddlebag
Arturo Chiang Sandal

Everything except the bag (gap) is from Piperlime. Big shock! It is my new favorite!

What to wear? Part 3

Here is my third outfit with the shirt still being the main piece. I decided to leave the shirt out with a belt around it. (The shirt is quite...full. It needs something to hold it in place). I threw an olive green cardigan over it and swapped out my jeggings for my ripped skinny jeans. I am wearing the same shoes as in Part 1 of this series. My hair was up the past two posts because it just happened to be a dirty hair day. But hey, at least you can see the little earrings my husband picked out for me! If you don't know Tim, then you should know that he does not like picking out ANYTHING for me. He is always afraid that I will not like it.

If you have something sitting in your closet and you aren't sure what to wear with it, give me a call. Chances are, there is something to pair with it. Sometimes it just takes another set of eyes! Check out my website to learn about the fashion consulting that I do!

What to wear? Part 2

Last night I went to dinner with a friend and decided that it was the perfect opportunity to put together my second outfit, with the shirt as the focal piece. (See previous post for a full picture of the shirt).

I didn't change much. I changed the shoes, tucked in the shirt, added a belt and ditched the blazer for a motorcycle jacket.

This is my favorite of the two so far. What do you think?

What to wear? Part 1 in a series...

I bought this shirt about a year ago, and it has been sitting in my closet ever since with the tags still on it. I don't know about you, but every now and then I will find something that I love, knowing that I don't really know what to wear with it. I don't think that is a bad thing, however. I will pick up pieces here and there knowing that eventually I will find something to go with it. This shirt actually reminds me of the button down, sleeveless shirts that I wore back in the 90's. (Thankfully, this one is quite different from the ugly printed shirts I wore).

Yesterday I decided that I was going to wear this, no matter what. I looked through my closet and pulled out a blazer that I picked up a month ago at LOFT. I was actually excited when I realized I could put an outfit together around this one shirt. So that got me thinking...could I put together more outfits? I actually have another outfit, quite similar, in mind. I will post a picture of it (once I wear it, of course).

I am going to do a series of outfits based on this one shirt. I may not own all of the pieces, but it will be fun to see how many different outfits I can put together with one shirt as the focal piece.

Be on the lookout for this series to come! I actually love this idea so much, I plan on doing more in the future!

Gotta love a sale!

Victoria's Secret has this lovely wedge sandal on sale for only $29!!! I bought this shoe in white years ago, and I wear them every spring/summer. I decided to get these in black since I love my white pair so much. I needed something 'in between' my flat black sandals (casual) and my 5 inch heels (dressy). These are great because you can put them with shorts, skirts, dresses and even skinny jeans.

A look I love!

I was playing around with the H&M Fashion Studio this morning. The Fashion Studio gives you a couple of different models to choose from. Pick one, and you can put whatever outfit on him/her that you want. It isn't just limited to clothing either! You can also choose handbags, jewelry, tights, shoes and sunglasses. This is a fun way to put an outfit together to figure out the silhouettes that you like.

This morning, I put an outfit together that I love. It includes a skirt, sweater, blazer, ankle booties and a key necklace. I do wish the skirt were a little longer and perhaps a little fuller. I like the idea of a flirty skirt paired with a jacket and ankle boots.

After I put this outfit together, I realized that I have most of these pieces already! Maybe I won't go shopping after all!

Jewelry Picks

Ever check out Topshop.com? The retailer has some cute, original jewelry for great prices. I love a touch of unexpected in my jewelry, and this cute bag on a chain defines unexpected for sure! I can see this as a definite spring/summer piece mixed with some of my turquoise jewelry for a 'Southwestern' feel.

Or for those days when I feel more 'sporty,' I can go for the nautical vibe, literally, with this cute anchor ring.

There is just something about these little bunnies on hooks. Maybe it is the child in me, but I love these earrings and would wear them for sure!

Golden Globes

I checked out the Golden Globes last night, not to see who won, but to see the beautiful dresses. I noticed that one theme seemed prevalent - dresses with structured shoulders. At first, this might seem a little too retro but I think we will see a lot more of these structured, strong shoulders in the future.

Anne Hathaway was my favorite in Armani Prive from the Fall 2010 Couture collection. You can see the dress in the runway show but I think Anne made the dress look incredible!

Angelina Jolie was my next favorite in an Atelier Versace gown.

My least favorite? Natalie Portman in Viktor & Rolf. They usually have some very cool looks and for some reason this gown just made me think of Beauty and the Beast with the rose sitting on her chest.

Jumpsuits!

Does anyone else absolutely love jumpsuits? They are so easy to wear and SO comfortable! You can dress them up with some gold jewelry and pumps and feel great. I love to dress up and I absolutely hate to be uncomfortable. For me (and if you are the same way), a jumpsuit is a great way to go. I saw a great black jumpsuit in the 2011 spring A Detacher collection. Check out the entire line. There are some fun outfits and even, gasp, MIXING prints!

H&M also has a great jumpsuit that I wouldn't mind having. Of course, there isn't an H&M close by so I guess I will just have to look elsewhere!

Lace for Spring

I think that this week has been the coldest week we have had this winter. I am not a huge fan of temperatures in the 30s! Since it has been so cold, of course it has me thinking about spring and realizing that it will be here before we know it!

I was looking through my favorite designer's (ADAM) spring collection and fell in love with a lace dress. Check out his entire spring collection! He has some great, classic pieces.

I spent the morning perusing the internet and found a couple of lace dresses that I think will be great for spring. These dresses make me think of walking barefoot through a field of flowers with the sun shining down on my shoulders. Although that seems like an idyllic, picturesque scene, I would never do that. What if I stepped on a bug?

Still loving the military vibe!

Some of you may be tired of the military trend as it has been around for quite a bit. I, however, still love it!

I was looking for some boots (for a friend...I promise!) when I stumbled across these fun booties. Maybe it is something about the hardware on the shoe that reminds me of buttons on a a military uniform. Or maybe it is the clean lines of the straps across the shoe...either way, I like it!

I also found another Etsy shop (that makes two this week...) with a cool purse that also has the military 'vibe.' Aviva Schwarz (Israel) made this great canvas tote along with several other items that she has in her Etsy shop.

Steampunk Junq

If you haven't checked out Etsy.com, you should right away. It is a website for artists to sell handmade items, from jewelry to home accessories. You can also find vintage items on Etsy as well.

I love to look through the jewelry from time to time. There is some amazing talent out there!

Check out these rings and necklaces by Steampunk Junq. The artist has taken apart old watches and fashioned jewelry out of them. She has some very cool pieces that you won't find at your local boutique. I don't know about you but I like the idea of one-of-a-kind jewelry.
