Baggy

Francesca's top, Zara pants and clutch, F21 earrings and spiked bracelet, leather bracelet from Dillards,
Audrey Brooke heels via DSW

While I love all things preppy, colorful, and girly, I am definitely drawn to funky pieces like these awesome pants from Zara. These are the most comfortable pair of pants ever and I was thrilled that they were only $20. Gotta love a good sale.

I had a pretty crazy week. It all started with waking up with a cold on Mother's Day. Boo. Then my youngest son has decided to stop sleeping at night. I started my day at 3:30 a.m. one day this week. I got 4 hours of sleep on Tuesday and Wednesday night. Then, yesterday we got bad weather. I've seen some pretty bad rain storms but this was a tornado. It couldn't have been anything else. One second it was sunny and pretty and the next second it turns dark and ugly and starts raining. Then the wind picked up. I barely had time to grab a flashlight and my phone before I grabbed the boys and went in the laundry room. We have a tall cabinet in there for brooms and mops and I pulled those out and crammed my boys inside. I peeked down the hallway and looked to the windows and saw a wall of water roaring past the them. I have never been so scared in my life and sat against the door in tears, thinking of what could happen. My sweet little boy prayed for 'God to take the rain away.'

It was over almost as soon as it started. It turned sunny again and I looked outside and it looked like it had snowed. There was hail everywhere. It was piled up in mounds. When it was safe to venture out, we went outside. (Keep in mind that the sun was shining and the sky was blue at this point.) Fences were ripped up, trees uprooted, and someone's trampoline had blown into someone's front yard. Our neighborhood survived (my house is in one piece) but after that weather it is hard to believe we even survived.

So I guess my scare yesterday put my lack of sleep in perspective. It could have been a lot worse yesterday and I shouldn't complain about my lack of sleep. At least my boys and I are safe. That is all that matters.

Have a great weekend!

Keeping It Casual - 10 (Link-up)

H&M long sleeve tee, ASOS peplum top, Seven jeans, Shoedazzle heels (here), Classy With a Kick lace
necklace c/o (here), Aldo clutch

Okay, so I know you may be thinking that this isn't that casual of an outfit, but I say that it is. Something about the ripped jeans and the long sleeve t-shirt under this peplum give this outfit a dressed down look that I like. I like to think of it as 'polished casual.'

(What happened to this picture? Not sure what that gray bar is on the left side)

I like to share a few random facts about myself every week since I link-up with Shanna for her weekly Random Wednesday link-up, but this time I'm just going to ramble a bit about my blog and why I started it.

To be honest, I can't really remember why I started it other than I needed some kind of hobby. And if you asked me when I started it, I would have to look back through the archives for the exact date because I don't remember. I know that I had just recently had a baby and needed something for me (if you are a mom, you know how precious 'me' time can be!). I also had the brilliant idea to start a personal styling business. I had a website built, business cards made, and didn't do a thing with it. I don't think that I was very confident in myself so I didn't push it.

Both of these things, my blog and the personal styling thing, fell to the wayside. I got pregnant with my second baby and could not focus on anything to save my life. I was doing good to plan the few dance classes that I taught. After Gabriel (no. 2) was born, I began to devote more time to my blog because 1) I missed it, and 2) a close friend encouraged me to start back again.

While I have been pretty hard core about my blog for the past two years or so, the personal styling thing hasn't gotten off the ground (not that I have tried). It is something that I definitely want to pursue in the future and I feel like my blog has given me the confidence that I need to go out there and make the women in my city feel good about themselves.

So if you are in the northwest LA (not to be confused with L.A.) area, click on the personal styling services tab above. I would love to help you out!

Wild Prints and White

When it comes to wearing prints, I have been pretty safe. Typically I'll stick to polka dots or stripes and add color or mix the prints to make it a bit more exciting. As I look at other prints, I think about the best way to ease into wearing them. The easiest way (for me), would be to just add a white piece with them. I always find that if the outfit still seems too loud, a blazer helps to tone down the print just a little.

Normally I tend to shy away from bold prints like the t-shirt above but when paired with simple white jeans and sandals, I think this is an easy look that anyone can wear. The statement necklace is definitely a new take on the statement necklaces that I have seen and adds a little edge to this look.

The only thing wild about this outfit is the skirt. Every other piece is something that I think would be easy to wear with other pieces in your closet and they help tone done the wild print in the skirt.

After doing a little online 'browsing,' I think I may branch out a little and start adding some funkier prints to my wardrobe. I think it is a great way to add interest to your outfit.

What prints are your favorite? Are you a wild one or do you like to play it safe?
