Loving Loafers!

I am obsessed with the loafer trend! Upon first glance, they remind me of something that an old man would wear. I can picture an elderly (esteemed) gentleman wearing a robe, a pair of loafer-esque slippers, and smoking a cigar. So why, you ask, would I want to look like THAT? Heck, I don't know! I just love it and you better believe that I am on my way to DSW today to see if they have this pair of flats that I recently spotted online. :)

I think that a loafer in a bright color paired with skinny jeans would be super cute. I'm sure that if I am careful with my styling, 'old man' will not be the look that I communicate.

Costello Tagliapietra Fall 2012

Check out a few images from the Costello Tagliapietra Fall 2012 line! When looking at a new collection, sometimes I like to view the entire collection as thumbnails to get a sense of what it is about. The colors and prints of this one instantly grabbed my attention.

Unlike my previous post, this collection sported more prints and more deep, rich fall colors. (The cinnamon dress below is just one example). These three pictures are just a few of my favorites but all together sum up what I loved best about the collection. The short trench-like jacket with a contrasting color collar is a fun way to change up a classic trench. The colors are also perfect for fall weather! The dress (center) is not only draped in a cool way over the shoulder, it has a bright, splatter print to boot. And finally, the cinnamon dress (right) is just one way to make a single-color garment exciting. It is definitely a modern take on a classic silhouette!

These three pieces sum up the collection in my opinion. Classic pieces done with a twist. Whether through the use of graphic prints, draping or cut, they embody a fresh, modern woman who still likes to reference classic design.

NY Fashion Week, Day One Down!

The first day of NY Fashion Week Fall 2012 has come and gone. I thought I would share a few pictures from my favorite show of the day, BCBG Max Azria.

The collection came across as very easy, chic and modern. The light weight fabrics literally billowed out from the models as they made their way down the runway. Had a different, heavier fabric been used, then the garments would have lost their breezy element. The choice of fabric paired with the color blocking gave this collection a sense of modern ease. The symmetry of shapes in some garments kept the look classic whereas the asymmetry used in others gave it a modern flair that I absolutely loved! Everything down to the styling looked effortless. A sleek ponytail with a few tendrils bouncing around the eyes definitely made it a an easy look that I (and probably you) can relate to.

I don't think that we are quite done with the color blocking trend yet! This collection was full of color blocking in shades that are not 'typical' fall colors. The bright blues and yellows were an unexpected fun factor!
