Maternity Stripes

ASOS dress (here), F21 jacket (here) and clutch (here), BCBG heels (here), Old Navy sunglasses, belt via TJ Maxx

I can't tell you guys how much I needed that blog break last week. I feel like my life has become so consumed lately with this blog and it was nice to be able to not think about it for a week. I have had a few changes in my life lately and it has made me question my ability to keep up with this blog. It has almost become a chore. Something that I feel like I "have" to do and get annoyed when I have to do a post. Did I miss blogging last week? Not one bit. Am I ready to quit? I don't know.

Thinking about the new baby coming makes me question whether I will have the time and energy to pour into this blog. With three children that need my attention, I wonder if I will have time. What do I get out of blogging? I don't really know. So with that being said, it makes it hard to want to continue when I'm not really sure what I get out of it. Yes, I have met some great women and I am totally grateful for that. Blogging has also helped me to step out of my comfort zone and try new things so I am grateful for that as well.

I have also decided to become certified to teach Pilates. It is something that I have gone back and forth about for the past five years and have finally decided to do it. It is something that will take less effort than blogging (and pay really darn well) and will not take up nearly as much time.

So with all this being said, I'm not throwing in the towel, just backing off a little. You can definitely expect less posts from me and a little less consistently. I don't want to feel tied down to this blog anymore. Thanks for sticking around through this transition in my life!

Have a great day!

  1. Amy, family always comes first and with the changes in your life and your baby I think you have to set priorities which I perfectly understand. Blogging should still be something you feel good and kind of enthusiastic about. Maybe you take a longer break and see how much you will miss it?
I will certainly miss you here!

  15. I totally, TOTALLY get what you mean and I respect you for putting this into perspective for yourself. When you are pregnant, you should totally take it easy whenever you can. I have three kids as well. I feel it sometimes too. Take care and I do hope to see you soon!

  21. I agree with what others have said, family first! I hope that you don't give up blogging for good though. I say take an extended break if you need to. A month even, and then post maybe once or twice a week from there on out. I agree that blogging shouldn't rule or consume anyone's life. It should be a fun outlet, but know it's challenging, and I can't imagine juggling it between 3 kids. I hope that what does happen is that you find it to be a happy place to come and just be you. I love visiting your little space here and would miss it dearly if you decided to shut it down.

  22. Best of luck to you, Amy, in whatever you decide to do in life! You are the first blogging friend I made so I will always be grateful to you for that. You are one classy lady, and I know you will succeed at whatever you set your mind to! Plus you rock maternity style. ;) If you do decide to quit blogging for good, I hope you'll stay in touch!

  23. Good for you!! I know how you feel! Taking two days off last week was just what I needed. It can be so hard being a blogger and a mom, plus all the other things that life throws at us! Deep down, I don't want you to stop, but at the end of the day, you have to do what's best for you!! I will always be here in blog land or not!! Love you, lady!!

  24. well you are the cutest mum-to-be and i think it's great that you are taking some time off! the only person who lives with me is my cat phoebe and i still get stressed between my work and my blog, so i can't imagine doing it all with a husband and kids too! :) take some time for yourself to relax and connect with your interests - pilates seems like an amazing thing to become certified in!

  29. Will definitely miss your blog, but it should be fun. The blogs I enjoy reading the most are the ones that are true to themselves and passionate about what they post. I don't make money off mine and like it like that - no pressure to post !

  30. No one can be expected to blog forever, and there are definitely times when it feels like a demanding, yet unpaid job. But I do enjoy seeing you here!

  31. Amy I totally hear your concern and how you are Feeling. I totally felt stressed recently too about Blogging because ist so time consuming and I dont even have children yet. Family totally Comes first and I think Blogging should be done because of fun and enthusiasm and not because of the Profit you can make out of it. I know that there are professional Bloggers that make pretty good Money out of it but it is such a Long and hard way to get there plus you Need luck too. One Thing I know for sure is that I would miss your pretty face and stylish Looks but at the end of the day you Need to do what is best for you. Maybe after a longer break you feel motivated again to blog?
