Summer Denim & A Giveaway

Summer is finally here and nothing is better than a pair of denim shorts when the temperature starts rising. I've decided to do a two-part series focusing on denim shorts. This week's edition will be devoted to a casual look while next week's will be how to dress up your denim.

Some might think that longer denim shorts would be too close to the dreaded 'mom' jean but I think if they are accessorized right, you need not worry. The blouse pictured above is updated with studs, and the sandals have embellishments that keep them from being too basic and boring. Carry a structured crossbody bag and cool sunnies for an effortless vibe.

This outfit is one that not everyone will like (hi mom!) but I love it. The crop top and shorts are dressed up slightly with the white blazer, which of course, will look cool with the sleeves rolled back. Keep the jewelry simple to play along with the simple vibe.

    Love the second look - I have quite thick thighs (thank you Irish dancing and running) so I am not sure that I could pull off the longer shorts but I love how you've styled them!!

    I have to admit that I really do love my jean shorts. You're right....if accessorized correctly, they don't look too much like mom jeans!

    the shoes/sandals on the second outfit are. to. die. for.
    i think i will die when my favorite pair of cut offs do. i have been repairing them for years already. they are essentially in tatters these days. refuse to give them up.

    I would totally wear both of those outfits...and I don't even wear shorts usually! I love the first outfit because of the length of the shorts - it stands out against the sea of short shorts I've been seeing lately. And the second one is great, too, because it's a great contrast between the ripped shorts and the tailored pieces. Good luck to all who enter!
