Best Sunglasses For Your Face

Sunglasses3
(Click picture for details)

Picking out sunglasses isn't always as easy as just grabbing the most stylish pair. You want the shape to work on your face. Not sure of your face shape? Here are a few tips:
  • Heart-shaped - a wider forehead that narrows at the chin.
  • Oval - all of the features are pretty much balanced. The cheekbones are high with a narrow chin.
  • Square - broad forehead with a strong, angular chin.
Those with a heart-shaped face should look for frames that help to broaden the jawline of the face. Frames that are large or bottom-heavy will help to do this.

Those with an oval shaped face are lucky because just about any frame works for them. Square frames work on an oval face because the soft curves can handle angular frames.

Those with a square-shaped face should look for rounded frames to help balance the sharp angles of the face.

The good news is that aviators work with just about any face shape, as seen below:

Even my three-year-old looks adorable in his aviators. Have a great day!

What to Wear With...

What to Wear 3
(Click picture for details)

When I get dressed in the morning, I take into consideration how my hair will look with certain pieces. For instance, I have a denim romper that seems to only look good with a top knot. I've tried wearing my hair curly (my go-to hair style) with this piece but somehow the combination of denim and curly hair looks a little too 80s. Wearing it with a top knot seems to take the retro vibe away.

I put together several looks to go with three different hair styles. These are all looks that I think would work with the hair styles I've picked. Of course, some of these can be swapped around.

What is your favorite way to wear your hair? I'd love to know!

Navy Stripes

Zara blazer, LOFT top, Old Navy skirt, Tinley Road pumps

When I bought this top, I didn't really have anything special planned to go with it. (My default is always jeans when I can't think of anything brilliant.) I was looking through my closet and came across (again) this mini skirt with tiny, vertical pinstripes. (Last seen here.) I haven't worn this skirt in a long time and now it seems to be the one piece I can't get away from.

Have a great day!

Get the Look

Get the Look
(Click picture for details)

I am loving the leopard shorts that Ashley Tisdale was spotted in not too long ago. Paired with a t-shirt and black blazer, these shorts make for a fun outfit. If you aren't willing to pay $250 (the price tag for her lovely shorts) then the option I picked out at only $37 should sound a little better.

I love this look but I don't think you would be limited to a gray t-shirt and black blazer. I think these shorts would be fun with a bright t-shirt and some black sandals like this. Or maybe pairing the shorts with a black t-shirt and a pair of bright sandals would be fun. Either way you look at it, these shorts have fun possibilities!

I hope you guys have a great day! I am finally getting my hair cut and colored. (I am three months past due.)

Peasant Girl

Gap dress and cardigan, Michael Antonio wedges, Francesca's earrings,
F21 bangles

Last week my husband treated me to a massage at a spa down at the boardwalk. I haven't had a massage in five years, so this one was greatly appreciated. When I finished, I decided to take a stroll down the boardwalk and check out some of the shops. I picked up this cute little maxi and cardigan (on sale!) and just couldn't wait to wear it.

The dress has a peasant feel to it and I think it is because of the tacked on ruffle at the bottom of the dress. Oh, and by the way, these are the pictures we took AFTER I noticed I still had the giant store sticker denoting the size, down the front of my cardigan. Oh boy.

Best In Rompers

Rompers
(Click picture for details)

For this post, I decided to focus on rompers, one of my favorite trends in fashion. I put together four different looks, each geared toward a particular style. The first set is inspired by a look that I wore a few weeks ago. You can read that post here.

I basically used accessories to define each style. If you thought you couldn't wear a romper, think again. There are many ways to style them and you can probably find a look that is right for you.

Basic Blouse

F21 blouse, Francesca's jeans, Tinley Road pumps, unknown belt, F21 bangles,
handmade earrings, Essie's 'status symbol' polish

There is something I just love about a basic blouse with jeans. I got this sheer blouse at F21 (I promise I shop other places y'all) for only $10. I just can't pass up good deals when they come my way. I mean, it was practically begging me to buy it!

I love these flare jeans but didn't realize how short they looked until I posted the pictures. When I do a flare leg pant, I love for them to be long enough that the shoes just barely peek out from beneath them. One thing I love about my blog is that I see myself, hopefully as others see me, so I can change things when they don't work. Sometimes the mirror lies to you!

Have a fabulous day!

Peplum & Product Review

Peplum t-shirt
(Click picture for details)

I loved this little peplum t-shirt as soon as I saw it. It is a reasonable (only $20) way to jump into the peplum trend if you haven't yet done so. Sometimes I am hesitant to spend a lot of money on something trendy that won't be in style for a long time. This top won't break the bank, which I love. I also love that it can go from casual with a pair of shorts and sandals, to dressed up with a sequined skirt and heels. I may just have to order this top before they are all gone!

Have you heard of the new Covergirl & Olay Tone Rehab 2-in-1 foundation? It is a foundation and serum that 'hydrates to improve skin tone and covers discolorations.' (Info according to Covergirl website.) I don't have any skin discolorations but I can tell you that I love this foundation! I haven't used a liquid foundation in years so I was hesitant to purchase this. (I have been using a mineral powder for my foundation because I was tired of heavy liquid foundations.) This foundation surprised me. It is not heavy or greasy or anything terrible associated with liquid foundations. I don't know if I have paid attention to its moisturizing properties but I still love this foundation. It goes on smoothly and gives my skin a nice even finish. It doesn't smell all that bad either!

I recently got a sample of Chanel foundation in the mail and I was so excited to try it. I figured if it was Chanel then it would feel like liquid gold going on my skin. And of course I would look fabulous beyond belief. I tried it and hated it. It was heavy and the smell was horrible! I washed my face and pulled out my trusty little tube of Covergirl.

If you are looking for a new foundation, try this one. Drugstore cosmetics have come a long way y'all!

Neon Touches

F21 blouse, Seven jeans, Target shoes, F21 earrings, necklace, and bangles,
Charming Charlie ring, Essie's 'Status Symbol' polish

My husband and I had another dinner/movie date this weekend. We went to a restaurant not too far from our house and got a burger and fries. (They have the best sweet potato fries!) Usually I don't order a burger and fries for dinner. That is more of a meal that I do for lunch but I was craving one of their amazing burgers. We snapped these pictures right before it started pouring down rain. Thank goodness I was only in 3 inch heels or I would not have been able to make it to the car.

We went and saw The Avengers, which I liked. My husband and I started talking about who we would want to rescue us if we were in trouble. I decided on Iron Man because he is strong, he can fly, and he has built in guns. I guess if he was busy then my next pick would be Thor. (I'm a sucker for his accent!) After the movie, I was unable to walk to the car from the theater. My feet were killing me in these shoes! I had horrible blisters on the back of my heels (probably from not wearing them in a long time) so my husband carried me out to the car on his back. I'm sure we looked like a young, flirting couple at that moment.

An Unlikely Match

TJ Maxx top, Tobi skirt, Steve Madden shoes, Tobi glasses,  F21 necklace
Essie's 'Status Symbol' Polish
When I bought this skirt several months ago, I searched high and low for a top to wear with it. I finally ended up wearing a striped shirt with it that I found at F21. I was looking through my closet yesterday and came across this top that I have had for several years. I had never thought about wearing it with the skirt because I didn't think the shape would work with the skirt. (It almost looks like a peplum top.) It would look silly on top of the skirt so why not tuck the top in? I was happy with the effect and now this might be one of my favorite outfits!

Beach Bound

Beach
(Click picture for details)

I put together a few things that I think would be perfect for a trip to the beach. I love the idea of a bright patterned short and crop top to go over a bikini. Of course, in my perfect world I would wear this. I'm not that confident after having my second baby. (So funny how you bounce right back after the first baby but things aren't so quick to go back after the second!)

Beach2

Of course, no beach trip would be complete without a few essentials for your relaxation time. Here are just a handful of things that I would bring to the beach.
  1. A cute striped beach towel is a must.
  2. Get a Kindle with a cute case and store numerous books for your trip. (Then you won't have to pack 3-4 paperbacks in your bag.)
  3. Protect your lips from sun damage with a lip balm.
  4. Don't forget to protect your hair! If floppy hats aren't your thing, use a spray to protect the scalp and your strands from sun damage.
  5. Unwind a little with a glass of wine (at sunset) or a mixed drink (day). These handy little stakes go down in the sand right next to your chair so your drink is away from the sand.
  6. Make sure you hydrate your body with plenty of water! Sitting out in the sun without drinking water is not good for your body! (Especially if you have had a cocktail. Make sure you replenish your fluids!)

Under the Boardwalk

F21 blouse, Old Navy skirt, Target flats, Charming Charlie jewelry

My family and I took a little getaway trip to Houston this past weekend. I go every summer (usually alone) but was able to take all three of my boys with me this time. I have family down there so I always have a great place to stay when I go. And let me tell you -- my aunt can COOK. I look forward to her fantastic cooking every time I go. She makes mouth-watering entrees and usually follows it up with some kind of dessert. I'm in heaven.

We went to the Kemah boardwalk on Saturday so that my toddler could ride some rides and just run around. It was one of the hottest days that I have experienced so far this summer. Luckily I snapped some outfit shots before the sweat started pouring down my face and legs.

Have a fabulous day!

Kira over at Rain or Shine is going to be traveling to New York this summer for a wedding. What a cool place to get married! I can only imagine how beautiful the wedding will be and how much fun she will have as she tours the city.

I know if I was going to New York, I would be hitting the pavement HARD. Flats are a must when you are playing the part of a tourist. Just make sure you break in your shoes before you go.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone, and have a blast in NYC Kira!
