Fall Fringe

F21 blouse, Zara skirt, Old Navy cardigan and glasses, Nine West heels

I love those fall days when all I need is a cardigan. Thankfully it hasn't gotten too cold yet and I have still been able to wear skirts without tights every now and then. I probably will still wear some skirts without tights in the middle of winter, just for the record.

Have a great day!

Gift Guide - Accessories

I can't believe that the Christmas season is upon us. Most of you might have already started your shopping but for those of us (myself included) that haven't really thought about gifts this year, here are a few guides to help you through your lists.

Animal prints will always be in style. If the person you are shopping for is not a fan of wearing animal print tops or bottoms, perhaps an accessory such as the zebra cuff above would be best. The crocodile clutch pictured above is also a subtle way of incorporating the animal trend.

Of course, sometimes simple accessories make the best gifts. You really can't go wrong with a pair of simple stud earrings or a scarf.

Have a great day!

Gray Layers

F21 blazer and necklace, gray jacket from local boutique, Francesca's top, Seven jeans,
Nylon Journal arm warmers c/o, Old Navy glasses, Nine West heels

When Nylon Journal contacted me and wanted to sponsor me, I jumped. Being a dancer, I toyed with the idea of a new pair of leg warmers but when I saw these arm warmers, I knew I had to have them. I have been looking for a pair of arm warmers for several years now and have not been able to find a pair anywhere. These comfy ones are stylish and functional - two things that sometimes aren't present at the same time in fashion. I'm not a big fan of gloves in the winter because I can't stand not being able to use my fingers (working an iPhone with gloves is not easy), so these are the perfect winter substitute.

I've been getting into layering a little more lately, and couldn't resist layering a dark gray thin jacket under my white blazer. If you are looking to layer pieces this winter, try adding light pieces under blazers to avoid looking bulky. Light vests or even short-sleeved jackets like this one are perfect for layering.

Have a great day!

Captain's Dinner

Dress c/o eShakti, F21 clutch, Nine West heels, earrings c/o Anjolee

When eShakti sent me this dress last week, I immediately knew what I would use it for. My husband and I are going on a cruise in a few weeks and I have been wondering what I would wear for the formal night on the ship. I had a dress in mind but I wasn't too excited about it for the Captain's dinner. This dress, however, will be perfect. The simple silhouette is embellished with beading on the shoulders, diminishing the need for extravagant jewelry.

If you haven't heard of eShakti, check them out! They have so many different styles of dresses, tops, skirts, jackets, and coats. If you aren't a person who normally orders clothes online (I used to never order online) because you might be worried about sizing, then this website will be perfect for you. Not only can you order clothes in pre-stocked sizes but you can also customize the clothing. When I selected this dress, I had a choice of how short I wanted the hemline to be, and how I wanted the neckline to look. When height is an issue, or a neckline might be too low, this company can fix it to your specifications.

Of course I had a hard time picking a dress. I found a few more options here, here, and here that I wouldn't mind adding to my closet.

Have a great day!

They've Got Your Back

Capes

(Images from The Mode in Costume)

Capes have been used in some shape or fashion since the beginning of time. Man figured out early on that wearing fabric encircled around his body would keep rain and cold out. Much like any trend, capes have changed in style over the years. (Just see the sketches above and see more here.)

cape1

There are so many different styles of capes right now but I just picked three. I've also styled them to hopefully give you a different idea of how to wear them.

I would typically pick a heel to go with skinny pants but a studded boot gives this outfit a little more edge. Swap them out with heels for a glam look.

There is something so classy about a cape and pencil skirt. Keep the jewelry minimal when wearing such a busy print. Pair this look with nude heels for a little extra class.

Do you like capes? What is your favorite thing to wear with them?

The Long and Short Of It

F21 blouse, earrings, and bracelet, Xhilaration faux leather shorts, Capezio
tights, Old Navy cardigan, Maripe boots, Tobi glasses, unknown necklace

Just because colder weather is upon us doesn't mean we have to stop wearing our shorts. I simply took a pair of shorts and 3/4 length sleeve blouse and paired them with a cardigan and tights. Wearing a long cardigan with shorts isn't a look I typically do but I think I like it.

Have a great day!

Glitzy Gray

A.N.A sweater, MNG by Mango skirt (JC Penney),  Nine West heels, F21 jewelry

Have you ever walked in a store and spotted something across the room and felt panic because you didn't know if you could get to it in time before someone else grabbed it? That is how I felt when I saw this skirt. I tried to calmly walk over to the rack and when I arrived I tore through the skirts looking for my size. Unfortunately they did not have it but I was able to order it online. Crisis averted.

Have a great weekend!

Equestrian

H&M blazer, Old Navy vest, F21 top, Seven jeans, Steve Madden boots,
F21 earrings, Charming Charlie ring, Urban Expressions clutch

I don't ride horses so this is as equestrian as it gets for me. After a fearful riding experience in Colorado a few years ago I think I will just keep my feet on the ground. (Let's just say I thought it would be a smooth trail ride through a pretty field; not a horse stumbling up and down a mountain.)

I threw this outfit on without really thinking about it and now I think it is one of my favorite casual looks. Sometimes those are the best outfits.

Have a great day!

Shift Into Gear

shift

Styles will come and go but the shift dress has been a style that women have embraced for many years. With a simple, straight silhouette it hangs on the body just right. Women of many different shapes and sizes can wear this look because of its simple, non-clingy nature.

A shift dress in a solid color (or even in black) is always a safe bet. Picking a dress in a solid color guarantees that you will wear it for years to come. You can always bring a garment up-to-date with accessories. A bold statement necklace or earrings are just what you need to take a dress from simple to stunning with little effort.

With the obsession that I am currently having with leather, I had to include at least one dress in the fabric. A leather or lace shift dress definitely gives the classic silhouette a modern twist and would be fabulous in any woman's closet.

I hope you guys have a great day!

Baubles and Bags

b&b
(Click picture for item details)

Do you remember when it was stylish to match your belt to your shoes? Or your shoes to your handbag? I love that pretty much all of the silly fashion rules have been thrown out of the window. It's fun to mix things up and forgo the old "matchy matchy" rule. However, there are times when I like the idea of matching colors, or at least pairing coordinating pieces together.

Lunch With the Boys

LOFT blazer and jeans, Francesca's top, F21 earrings, Old Navy glasses, Mia shoes

It has been a few weeks since my last lunch date with my two little boys and husband (you can read that post here). We went to a chain restaurant (which I have not been to in probably a year) and was a little disappointed. I ordered a filet and expected fabulousness and was let down. But, it was a loud restaurant, so my boys fit right in. And that is why we went.

Have a great day!

Chic for Cheap

(Click picture for item details)

When it comes to shopping, I try my best to find reasonably priced items. With such inexpensive and fashionable places to shop like Forever 21, JCPenney, and Target (to name just a few), every woman can look great for low prices. For all of you budget-conscious women, I've put together a few outfits that are trendy and priced extremely well.

You don't have to shell out a lot of money or buy designer pieces to be in style. You also no longer have to hunt through racks in stores to find cute pieces. As a busy mom and part-time dance teacher, I really don't have time to spend hours shopping. I love popping into a store and immediately seeing cute things at affordable prices.

Minimal

F21 blouse, JC Penney skirt, F21 bangles, Charming Charlie ring,
Target heels

I've had this blouse for a few months but have been waiting for the perfect thing to wear with it. My leather pencil skirt is just the thing to go with it. As much as I have been trying to incorporate color into my wardrobe, my favorite colors to wear have always been black and white.

Have a great weekend!
