Shades and Scary Trends

Two of my favorite colors for spring are white and blue. I love how clean and classic white looks, even when a piece is sporting a row of studs. Blue is just a fun color that is starting to become a neutral in its own right; especially with shoes.

As far as bloggers go, I know many of you would wear the white laser cut out heel pictured above and the next day carry the white bag with gold studs. Or even (gasp!) wear them together. I feel like as fashion bloggers, it is our job to wear the latest trends to show the world. Sure, some of you ladies out there I consider a little cooler and braver than myself. Brooke at What 2 Wear is just one of those women who can put together an awesome outfit (Look at this and tell me she is not cool!). The 'cool' girl in me (she is very small and usually squashed by the safe, classic girl) loves and appreciates the girls out there who take fashion blogging to new levels.

Before I get completely off track, I want to point out that I have readers who are not fashion bloggers that might be a little hesitant to try a bag with studs. Before we scoff in disbelief, I think we should remember that maybe at some point we might have been hesitant to try studs, or bright color, or even mixing prints.

I've heard people say that they couldn't "pull something off," but I think it's always best to start small. Any single one of these pieces would be a great starting point to your already-existing wardrobe. Baby steps. When you are comfortable with a new trend, push on to the next thing.

I will be the first to admit that florals are what I've been scared to try. There, I said it. I'm always afraid that I am going to come off looking like Blanche Devereaux (who was fabulous... in the 80s). But I've decided to be brave and try it. Eek. So you people have to hold me accountable, okay? What trend are you currently wearing or planning to wear that you were scared to try? It's okay to admit it. We are all friends here.

Have a great day!

  1. I know what you mean girl! As fashion bloggers we have to be on the cusp of fashion trends! I'll say I was all about the florals. I mean they can look a little 80's--but I'm OBSESSED with the floral on floral look! Definitely take a leap girl! I'm sure you'll love it! lol

  2. I couldn't agree with you more. And Brooke is totally in a league of her own when it comes to pushing the boundaries. For me, I've always been scared to try moto boots. As much as i love them, I just can't picture myself wearing them.

  5. Great selections! I think part of the reason why I began blogging was to gain confidence to be more daring with trends. So far it's been mostly baby steps, but I'm having a lot more fun with picking out things to wear! :)

  7. I love blue and white, it's such a classic to me. And to be honest, I'm been semi-hesitant to get something with studs on it. I love seeing it on other people and I think it's incredibly chic with a bit of edge. Sometimes I feel like edginess is not something I can really pull off. But like you said, I'm going to give it a try with something small. You wear florals and I'll wear studs, deal!? :)

  9. I think florals are so great for spring and you should just go for it! I've been thinking about getting a pair of sneaker wedges but I'm not sure it's "me" or how long this trend will really last...

  10. I love florals! It's actually the first print I embraced (I'm a "classic" girl, myself, and almost always stuck to solids)! Can't wait to see how you wear them :)

  12. Love those studded heels! And the blue oxfords. And I agree that I think it is good to start small for certain trends, but at the same time, it is okay to try a trend and realize it isn't for you. Just start off buying one small item at F21 and if you love it, go for something that will last a LONG time in your closet. I like to push the limit with my fashion choices, but I also love a classic look!

  16. This new neon trend. I'm scared. I could get behind it in fourth grade. Not so sure about now!

  17. I don't consider myself a fashion blogger - I'm just an everyday outfit blogger, but these are trends I would definitely try. I won't be pushing many envelopes, but I do think that it's possible to make trends like studs, etc., work in everyday life. Now that I'm reading a lot of fashion blogs, I do find myself incorporating more trends, but I don't think I'm doing anything innovative with them.

  28. I just bought floral pants that are a little loud even for me, the girl who loves neon pink. But I think you have to remember - they're just clothes! If they make you smile, why not wear them? That's my fashion motto. :)

  35. Being a more mature woman, I don't follow all trends but I love adding new ideas. I have floral printed trousers and combine them with a silky shirt, a classic blazer and heels rather than a T-Shirt and sneakers.
    Love the lace cutouts!
