Invest

Invest

When it comes to jewelry, I have to admit that I am pretty cheap. I'm not exactly sure why, but I think it has something to do with shelling out so much money for something that is relatively small. How can something so tiny be so expensive? Logically, it makes sense to spend a little more money on quality jewelry because it outlasts the cheap stuff. But at the time, I love scoring a cute bracelet or necklace for only $6. Of course it tarnishes almost instantly and I find that I have to replace it. It really makes more sense to invest in quality jewelry that will last for a long time.

Spending over a hundred dollars on a necklace may not be in every person's budget (I cringe when I think of spending that much on a necklace), but if you find a gorgeous, well-made statement necklace that you can wear for years, it will be money well spent. The J.Crew statement necklace in the top center is a piece that I would treasure for years, should I decide to take the plunge.

I love layering bracelets but there are times when just a simple statement cuff or bangle is all you need.

A gorgeous pair of stones hanging from your ears will definitely dress up a look more than a simple pair of hoops. A lot of my earrings are pretty basic, and I tend to gravitate toward studs (maybe it is because I have a 12 month old baby who would find any earring dangling from my ears too good to resist). I am loving the J.Crew Resin and Marcasite earrings (top left). They would be a beautiful statement piece to add to my jewelry collection.

  2. I usually buy cheap jewelry, since trends come and go and I get bored easily- ha! But I invest in things I truly love- like diamond stud earrings or a silver Tiffany's necklace that will last forever.

  3. I agree that all women include accessory to their budget. Beside, there are a lot of cheaper accessories in the market which look so good. By the way, I love the pieces that you've posted.

Followed you dear. Would gladly appreciate if you follow back. HUGS!

  4. I tend to buy inexpensive jewelry for things that are trendy. I think it's worth investing in classic pieces like diamond studs or pearls.

  5. Great post and great picks too. I'm actually the exact opposite of you on this one. I would rather save up and invest on one quality piece than have ten trendy pieces that I know will dull as soon as I wear it. But having said that, I've also found that the more expensive jewelry can sometimes tarnish just as fast.

  6. I usually invest in rings most. Earrings and necklaces I buy semi-cheap, but I usually never take my rings off, so I spend a bit more money on ones that I really love!

  7. I usually don't invest in jewelry either, but a good pair of everyday studs would be a good "fashion investment". I love that bow cuff!

  8. Oh that bow bracelet is just so beautiful. I have few pieces that are investments and I wear them daily and will love them forever. Otherwise, I buy trendy jewelry at cheaper prices.

  10. I really want to invest in a good and classic necklace from J Crew. Unfortunately life and college keeps getting in the way. I know though if I get a classic style it will last me years and years so I need to just break down and buy one.

  11. I'm always weary about spending so much money on jewelry, but you are so right! Most of time time the cheaper stuff breaks or tarnshes super quick! Loving that jcrew necklace!!

  13. Beautiful picks! I am the same way - I have such a hard time spending anything over than $30 for jewelry. I love walking into forever 21 and picking up a necklace for $5.80, but then I wear it once and it's tarnished like you mentioned. I definitely want to invest in a few quality/timeless pieces, it would definitely be worth it.

  14. I absolutely love every piece you chose (can you say jewellery obsessed?!) but I feel the same way you do about shelling out more than $100 for a bracelet or necklace. I've had my eye on that J.Crew pave link bracelet for so long and I still can't bring myself to spend that much. Hopefully my husband will buy it for me for Christmas and then I won't have to ;) Forever 21 and H&M always have great pieces at a fraction of the price so I'm always happy to shop around for something pretty there!

  16. Such pretty jewelry! I'm debating whether to start investing in jewelry instead of buying a bunch of Forever 21 pieces. I just have a problem with the gold rubbing off or tarnishing! I'm just worried that I would spend a lot of money on an expensive piece and the same thing would happen!

  18. You took the words right out of my mouth!!! You know where my jewelry comes from!! LOL!! This is one thing I won't spend a ton of money on. If it's over $20...I put it back! We are sooooo on the same page, it's scary!!

  19. Ha ha ha, I totally agree! I'm so cheap when it comes to jewellery! I occasionally spend a bit more on fabulous statement necklaces, but I rarely spend a lot on earrings, rings or bracelets!
